Advances in medicine and the progress of the medical profession are clearly evident in decades of photographs of laboratories and doctors’ offices. Nineteenth century offices in which the exam room was in the patient waiting room illustrate how privacy was of little concern to patients desperate for medical attention. Photographs range from simple nineteenth century laboratories to complex sterile twentieth century medical environments.
