taken of political rallies, politicians, and related political
events such as meetings, conventions, speeches, inaugurations,
etc. The pride of the collection are the rare mid-nineteenth century
political wager photographs depicting losers paying their debt-
the winners in a wheelbarrow or cart.. This aspect of American
culture is now generally forgotten but once was an important social
and community unifying event. |
