Occupations

The Occupations Collection consists of thousands of posed and candid photographs of men, women and children at work. Crafts-persons, peddlers, factory workers, shopkeepers, salespeople, farmers, miners, explorers, almost all trades are represented in classic and unusual poses. As time and technology advances various occupations disappear. The collection is especially rich in iconic images of bygone occupations i.e.. town criers, coal sorters, etc. The advance degree professional occupations such as science, medicine, religion, law, teaching, etc. are documented in their own separate categories.
